Practice playing slow-medium swing time. Start focusing on the feel by playing only the ride pattern and the step the hi-hat on beat 2 and 4. Try this to a couple of swing tracks to get the feel. Stay relaxed focus on a slight snap with fingers on beat 1 and 3 as the hand lifts up. 
Then work on the exercise in your practice book. 1 bar of swing time then add in the snare on the down beat then one bar of swing time and then add in the snare on the up beat!
