Monday 11/06/18 6pm
This week go over the broken hi-hat patterns from "foot prints" and "footsteps in the dark".
Experiment playing each groove hand to hand on the hi-hat and all with the right hand as well. Hear the difference in texture!
Finally have a go at the linear groove (marked track 97). Remember these grooves rely on crisp clean time flow for the 16th notes and accurate internal dynamics.
Have a listen to ebony jam for next week!

This week your warm up is a coordination excercise looking at taking the left hand around the kit.
The first one the left hand plays the snare and tom 1 in a 2 beat phrase.
The second one is a more froove based idea with a backbeat on 2 and 4
Monday 11/06/18 4pm
Warm up this week with 8th s and 16ths around the kit. Keep it controlled but see how fast you can take it!
Y'all: recap the fill in bar 10 watch out for the rests and count carefully. Play the whole transition through to beat 1 of bar 11.
Look at the open hi-hat groove in bar 12. Take care to close the hi-hat in time!

Ben
Ex 3 bar 1+2 (check video if you need to remind your self how it sounds)
Ex 2 ruffs much better just check your voicing the phrases correctly.
Reggae muffin: dynamics need to be clear and watch you don't rush the solo at the end! Over all a really strong performance well done!
Neil: well played today. The swung rhythms for London calling looked much more secure and confident. Apply the counting to all of the fills and grooves on the first page for next week.

Thursday 07/08/18 8:30pm
Have a go at ex 1-5 and no 7. Start on the snare then try playing around the kit.
When this feels comfortable try a bar of groove and then use one of the exercises as a fill.
Also have a go at the bass drum variations (first dropping the bass drum on beat 4 then afterward on beat 2)
